Tisch College has one of the biggest research teams in the U.S. devoted to understanding the challenges to our democracy—and the opportunities to build and sustain it. We use that scholarship to inform our own programming at Tufts and to drive national conversations about voting and elections, the role of citizens, the health of democratic institutions, and the power of young people.

Study Finds Surprising Link Between Political Views and Self-Reported Wellness

Newhouse Professor of Civic Studies Brian Schaffner comments a new collaborative study examining how individuals with different political views rate their personal well-being concluding, “It may very well be that conservatives have better mental health than liberals, but I do think that our study raises some serious questions about the extent to which that is actually true.”
